Arsenal took on Newcastle in the Premier League tonight. Their win saw them overtake their bitter rivals Tottenham in the Premier League standings…
The contest between Arsenal and Tottenham is still well and truly on. When it looked like North London was fading in its shade of red, Unai Emery came in and made things work in the Gunners’ favour. Tonight was no different, as Arsenal put in a stellar performance against Newcastle.
In fairness, Newcastle never really got a grip of the game. However, this is only a testament to Arsenal’s direct, attacking play. They kept the ball well, and never gave Newcastle an opportunity to level the scoring.

Aaron Ramsey initially opened the scoring, or so it seemed. He produced an impressive finish from a corner, however, the goal was disallowed due to a foul. It didn’t stop Ramsey’s determination though, as he scored an even more impressive goal just minutes after, linking up well with Alexandre Lacazette.
The game hit a stalemate in terms of the scoreline, however, there was plenty of action. The cherry was put on the cake when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette linked up well, the latter of the two scoring a delightful chipped goal 10 minutes before the end.
Amid all the action, the main thing is that Arsenal stuck to their task well and got the important three points. It doesn’t matter about the scoreline!
There was plenty to talk about on social media. From the heroics of Mesut Ozil to the late Cristiano Ronaldo run from Shkodran Mustafi (I shan’t comment on that cross). That said, let’s take a look at some of the best reactions from Twitter…
