The Premier League is in full motion now. The top four race is particularly interesting since four sides are currently battling for contention. Manchester United finds themselves falling further and further adrift as they sit in sixth. Real Madrid is stuck in a similar predicament, below expectation in third in La Liga.
However, Raphael Varane is not to blame for Real Madrid’s form this season. In fact, he has been one of their better players recently. It’s easy to pin losses on your centre backs, but even Real Madrid fans know that Varane is far from the culprit. It’s a squad issue, one which Zinedine Zidane will give his all to fixing.

According to the Independent, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have made initial enquiries about Raphel Varane. It remains to be seen whether Varane is one of the players that Zidane wants out in his new plan, but it would be a silly decision to let him go cheaply. Varane is one of the best centre backs in the world.
I do take Independent rumours with a pinch of salt, however, I would not be surprised by this one. It’s known that Madrid will probably have a clear out in the summer, and Manchester United needs as much help as they can get within their defence. Plus, given Varane’s heroic World Cup performances, there’s no reason why the French capital shouldn’t be interested.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has realised that his attacking philosophy isn’t as renewable as he initially thought. It didn’t take for Premier League sides to catch on and start to play around it, the first of which being Arsenal. Their defence is their weak point, so they definitely do need to strengthen in this zone.
Varane has played alongside Sergio Ramos for long enough to know the ins and outs of defending. However, that’s an unfair comparison to make since Varane is a great defender in his own right. He is very determined to win back the ball and his intelligence to track the runs of the attacker is unmatched. He would definitely get United playing the way that United should.
