One of Real Madrid’s best and most successful players of late has been left feeling betrayed after being spoken to candidly by Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid are going to have several changes during the summer in all of their departments and Zinedine Zidane is expected to swing the axe on a lot of players. The Frenchman’s plans of a squad revamp will see a lot of players come in, but those who are not in his plans or face lesser minutes will be told so truthfully and candidly.

Zinedine Zidane will not make any exceptions in the dressing room from next season onward and will be the only boss in the dressing room- meaning that he won’t be listening to anyone else’s requests and pleas. The three-time UEFA Champions League winning manager is now close to making a decision on the goalkeepers.
Following his arrival, Keylor Navas was expected to have the first spot to himself and Thibaut Courtois would be either benched or leave the club. However, Zinedine Zidane has had a lengthy word with the Costa Rican keeper explaining the reason why Courtois was signed- giving Keylor’s age as a reasonable point, something which Solari and Lopetegui didn’t do.
At the same time, Zinedine Zidane has told Navas that he will continue to be in his plans for the next season unlike Santiago Solari or Julen Lopetegui, but his role would be limited. Thibaut Courtois would be given the nod in goal during Madrid’s league fixtures, while Keylor Navas will be the undisputed starter in the Champions League and Copa del Rey.
But the former Levante shot stopper feels like he still is deserving of a bigger role, and rightly so. Keylor Navas feels betrayed by Zinedine Zidane despite the candid conversation that the duo had and will consider offers of heading to other clubs where he could feature week in and week out, especially towards the twilight of his career.
Do you think Zinedine Zidane has been harsh and betrayed Keylor Navas with his behaviour?
