Real Madrid brush aside Barcelona in a bid to sign wanted midfielder
Real Madrid has stolen a march on their Catalan rivals in Barcelona and moved ahead of them in their race to sign a wanted midfielder from France.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to lock horns during the summer for one of Europe’s most budding and upcoming defensive midfielders- Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman’s exploits with Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyon have attracted several others suitors including Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Following his progression from Amiens and Guingamp over the last few years, Ndombele has transformed into an indispensable player in the Lyon line-up but even the club’s officials acknowledge that he could be leaving the club shortly if there are offers which could be seemingly difficult to turn down.

At Barcelona, they see Tanguy Ndombele as a replacement to Sergio Busquets. The Spain international has been the world’s best defensive midfielder for a long time now, but at 31 years old he is counting backwards until when he would be hanging up his boots. That said, Barcelona has absolutely no backup for Busquets in the defensive midfield role.
Real Madrid may be set to lose out on Casemiro this season after the Brazil international is being monitored by Paris Saint-Germain and Zinedine Zidane does not trust Marcos Llorente enough just yet. As a result, he prefers to bring in somebody who has played regularly in the past, so with N’Golo Kante nearly being impossible to sign, Ndombele is the next name.
The player dubbed as the successor to N’Golo Kante does prefer a move to Real Madrid where he believes he could play more. In addition to that, Zinedine Zidane has been his idol since childhood and playing under the 46-year-old manager is another driving force which tilt’s the players balance in the Whites’ favour. Ndombele will cost 80 million euros or so.
Are Real Madrid on the right path in their bid to replace the potentially outgoing Casemiro?
