Manchester United is beginning to get on David de Gea’s nerves
By Kian Long
Manchester United is treading on thin ice…
David de Gea is one of, if not the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. In fact, he holds the strongest case since he has been voted in the team of the year for five of the last six seasons. The Manchester United shot-stopper is renowned for saving his side some points when they need him to the most.
Despite how important David de Gea is to the Red Devils, they are still reluctant to give him his requested pay rise. According to The Times, Ed Woodward and company do not wish to meet his demands and will instead play a risky game as de Gea heads into his final year (which was a clause in his contract). Understandably, de Gea is not a very happy man.

Manchester United is undergoing a period of transition currently. They need it too, given how poor they have been in some instances this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is at the wheel now, so fans will be hoping he is a reliable driver.
It’s still uncertain whether the Red Devils will qualify for the Champions League next season. They sit in sixth place in the Premier League currently and it doesn’t look likely that they can mount a serious challenge given the form of Arsenal and Tottenham currently.
That being said, it’s easy to understand David de Gea’s frustrations. A player of his calibre should be playing in the prestigious European competition, with no questions asked. Given the list of suitors that The Times has allocated to the goalkeeper, it won’t be difficult for him to play Champions League football. Some of those suitors include Real Madrid and Juventus.
I predict that many clubs will be looking to pounce on his situation this summer. Manchester United may feel inclined to sell, given they can still receive some sort of fee for the Spaniard. One thing is for sure though, no matter where de Gea plays next season, he will be a valuable asset to his side.
Do you think Manchester United should cough up David de Gea’s requested fee?
