Shkodran Mustafi isn’t a popular figure in the Arsenal camp…

Yesterday marked a sad day for Arsenal supporters. They had the chance to break a club record by going 11 wins in a row in a single competition, something they have previously never managed to do. The competition seemed easy too, however, they failed to even obtain a draw against Crystal Palace.

Perhaps it was down to Crystal Palace’s willingness to attack, or the away fans bringing a huge atmosphere. However, one thing’s for sure, Shkodran Mustafi certainly did not help Arsenal’s case. In fact, I would go as far as to say this was his worst performance and he’s definitely had some shockers in the past. Unai Emery decided to start him and he had to suffer the consequences.

His first mistake came in the first half when he trailed an easy header over the bar. This can obviously be forgiven since he is a defender and not a striker. However, it was certainly indicative of his coming performance…

He then enabled Wilfried Zaha an easy route to goal in the second half. Given his frame, he could have easily wrestled with the Ivory Coast international but instead, he allowed Zaha to run around him and slot the ball past Bernd Leno. Mustafi then had the cheek to blame the goalkeeper for not coming out.

As if things couldn’t get any worse, Mustafi deemed it a good idea to dive, in his own box, while his side was 2-3 down. I don’t need to tell you why that didn’t go down well with the Arsenal faithful…

Many believe he should be sold, and I am with them at this stage. Arsenal needs to be doing better defensively, and while Mustafi is trying his best, he is not what Arsenal needs right now. Here’s what fans have been saying…

Comedian Jack Whitehall came up with the ideal solution.

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.

Mustafi and Stephan Lichtsteiner have certainly cost Arsenal a few times.

#MustafiOut?

Mustafi has the ability to be immense but his decision-making lets him down.

Arsenal just likes to be the centre of attention.

What stance do you hold with Shkodran Mustafi right now? Are there any supporters out there?
