Manchester United eye Bayern Munich central defender for summer move
Manchester United are going to be in the transfer market this summer and are looking for favours from Bayern Munich as they eye a squad revamp.
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has established himself as a regular fixture in the centre of defence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but he needs an equally reliable partner at the backline’s heart. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have been horrific in recent seasons whereas Eric Bailly has had constant fitness issues. Therefore, it’s high time that a steadfast partner for the Sweden international is signed.

Fox Sports has reported that the Red Devils have shortlisted Bayern Munich centre back Niklas Sule as a deputy of the defensive role up for grabs from the next summer. The 23-year-old has made 37 appearances across all competitions this season and is featuring frequently under Niko Kovac, alongside Matts Hummels.
At 23, Niklas Sule already has a FIFA World Cup call-up with Germany under his belt after playing a part at Russia 2018 in addition to a Confederations Cup gold medal which he won a year prior. The Bavarian giants will demand at least 50 million euros for the Germany international and are also considering the option of renewing his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Manchester United have been attracted by the physical nature of Niklas Sule as well as his easy ability to win aerial duels given his height of nearly two metres. They are already considering moves for either of Kalidou Koulibaly, Toby Alderweireld and Raphael Varane, but Sule is a cheaper and younger option for the time being.
The Red Devils’ 4-0 loss at the Goodison Park to Everton meant that they are still placed sixth in the Premier League and their hopes of a top four finish have nothing else but faded. The concession of 48 goals during this season is their worst goals against statistic in over two decades of the Premier League.
Should Man United pay 50 million euros for Niklas Sule or stretch a bit for their other options?
