Real Madrid’s chase of one of their Premier League targets has been hiccuped and they may have to turn to looking at other names.
Real Madrid are looking to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba on a transfer ahead of the next season. The Whites are looking to woo the Frenchman into joining the club by using Zinedine Zidane’s re-arrival at the managerial helm as bait, while the coach is also open to the prospect of uniting with his compatriot in Spain.

However, there are three flies in the ointment which hinder Real Madrid’s pursuit of the World Cup winning midfielder, as pointed out by Fox Sports. Paul Pogba is going to cost a minimum of 100 million euros during the summer and that is by no means a reasonable price tag for a player who lacks consistency and professionalism, inarguably.
Furthermore, the former Juventus midfielder will demand in excess of an exorbitant annual salary of 17 million euros from the Merengues, which is certain to create doldrums in the dressing room because even the club’s already adroit players like Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Karim Benzema or Luka Modric earn lesser than that.
Secondly, convincing Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into selling Paul Pogba is a great ask. The Red Devils have not endured the best of seasons and are in grave need of newer signings during the summer. If they allow one of their best players to leave in such a situation, the fans are certain to grow livid than they already are.
Finally, Los Blancos will also have to manage and tranquilize demands from the 26-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola. The Italian is known to be notorious with his appetite and will certainly ask for millions from Real Madrid. Rather than giving that much to an agent, they might as well hunt for another player or two in the transfer period.
Paul Pogba’s arrival in the summer seems far from ideal from Manchester United’s point of view, whereas Real Madrid must also consider other feasible options like Christian Eriksen or hold onto the likes of Toni Kroos or Isco- both of whom have been linked with moves away. That said, a move for Eden Hazard is on the verge of being closed in upon.
Which three alternatives should Real Madrid consider to Paul Pogba given the stumbling blocks?
