Luka Jovic and Karim Benzema: The solution to Real Madrid’s struggles
By Adam Roecker
Who’s left in the race for Luka Jovic?
Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea have been chasing Luka Jovic since the winter transfer window. However, Chelsea’s appeal of their transfer ban is unlikely to be successful. And because Jovic is looking to move this summer, Chelsea will miss out on their top target.
While the next club on the list, Barcelona, has been rumoured to not agree with Eintracht Frankfurt’s €60 million evaluation. Which leaves Real Madrid as the only front-runners left.

So why would Luka Jovic be the perfect addition for Real Madrid?
Since Ronaldo left Real last summer, they have struggled to find a way to replace his incredible output. Benzema being the only consistent goal scorer with 31 goals in all competitions.
The key to Real’s return to the top is to target players who can help replace Ronaldo’s goals. Step in, Luka Jovic. He’s been taking the Bundesliga by storm, scoring 25 goals in all competitions this season for Frankfurt.
He’s showing all the signs of a natural goal scorer. Of his 3.3 shots per game, 2.5 of them are within the box. Which means he’s finding excellent attacking positions throughout each game and has the finishing capability to back it up.
While the two striker system has not been as popular in recent years, playing Benzema in a more creative centre forward role with Jovic slightly more forward could prove to be very effective.
Benzema is one of the most creative strikers in the world, averaging 1.4 key passes per game. So allowing him to contribute more in the build-up will create more chances for the entire Real Madrid squad.
Not to mention Real Madrid do not currently have a striker with enough quality to provide competition for Benzema.
Jovic is only 21 years old, a whole ten years younger than Benzema. So even if Real choose to play a single striker system, the Serbian can learn from Benzema and become the future star striker for Real Madrid.
