Real Madrid is considering a swap deal this summer that could see them part with 50 million euros of cash as well as Luka Modric.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had a busy last week and was in meetings with agents of players like Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Christian Eriksen as he hopes to seal some signings for the next season. Talks with the former two did go well, but those regarding the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder were not a breeze for Perez.

More from Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane continues to demand the signing of Paul Pogba, but he is aware that the France international is not going to come for cheap and as a result, he will be content with the signing of Christian Eriksen. The Dane won’t be a steal either, but Madrid can bargain given that he would have only a year left on his contract after this season.

According to Diario GOL, Florentino Perez felt that Tottenham’s representatives were overestimating the worth of the Denmark international Christian Eriksen. An officer representing the north Londoners asked the Whites for 50 million euros as well as Luka Modric in the deal, which the Madrid president thought to be of the cost of an arm and a leg.

Florentino Perez believes that Luka Modric is worth nearly 100 million euros and more so given that he is the defending winner of the Ballon d’Or. Having said that, Christian Eriksen is a very bright player and will be of great value to Real Madrid, but he is still someone who is unproven on the trophy front.

Nonetheless, the 72-year-old should give Tottenham’s proposed deal a second thought because Luka Modric is 33-years-old and it would be daft for anyone to ask 100 million euros for a player of that age. Additionally, 50 million euros in terms of cash for Christian Eriksen is a discount in itself and could see a younger Toni Kroos stay in Madrid if Modric vacates.

Should Real Madrid agree to Tottenham Hotspur’s proposed deal or negotiate for an alternative?
