Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is being kind enough to give Gareth Bale one last opportunity to prove himself at the club.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has been the centre of attention in the media of late. His fitness, attitude and propensity to participate in golf have been looked down upon by the media as well as the club’s faithful. But as per the AS, the Wales international could be given one last opportunity by Zinedine Zidane at the club.

More from Real Madrid

Gareth Bale was initially a left back from his days at Southampton before transforming into a winger in his later days with the Saints and subsequently in north London with Tottenham Hotspur. Zidane is planning to put Bale where he belonged at the dawn of his career- at left full back- and see how the experiment pans out.

The former Spurs forward has made it clear that he wants to stay at Real Madrid and his agent Jonathan Barnett has reiterated the same some weeks back. However, earlier in April, Los Blancos reportedly held a meeting with the player’s reps and told them that he would be sold this summer, but would get the leeway of choosing his club thanks to his conduct.

However, things could take a turn from 2019/20 and Gareth Bale might become a competitor to Marcelo which might also signal the end of Sergio Reguilon’s Real Madrid career at least for a season. Bale has a good record at left back and should he prove himself at the back, he might as well be in for a very contrasting role from what he currently does.

Gareth Bale is Real Madrid’s second highest goal scorer this season with 14 goals to his name across all competitions and has also assisted six times. While those numbers are decent, they are not impressive for a player earning 15 million euros annually and being tipped to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Do you think Gareth Bale would be able to do well as a left back at Real Madrid?
