According to the Daily Star, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Thorgan Hazard is garnering interest from several English clubs but Arsenal could possibly be the best fit for him.

The younger brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard has made quite the name for himself this year in the Bundesliga. He’s bagged 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Monchengladbach, who sit in fifth place.

Although Borussia Dortmund is very keen on the midfielder, a move to England for a higher asking price could be beneficial for the 26-year old. Liverpool is interested in him as they look for a replacement for Phillippe Coutinho, but considering the type of attack they already have, going to Anfield wouldn’t be the best decision for Hazard.

Arsenal is a team who does lack some creativity on the flanks, which is where Hazard plays, typically on the left. This is a team that he would fit in with very nicely and see consistent playing time.

More from Arsenal FC

He spent time in the Premier League briefly back in 2012 with Chelsea in the Jose Mourinho era, but didn’t see much first-team action and was eventually loaned out to Zulte Waregem in the Belgian first division. After that, he joined Monchengladbach, where he has thrived.

It’s very clear that Arsenal needs to improve it’s attacking options, mainly on the flanks, so this move would make a lot of sense for Unai Emery’s side.

More creativity in the midfield

Hazard is currently valued at around 35 million euros, which is definitely reasonable for the Gunners. Denis Suarez came to the Emirates on loan from Barcelona before the January transfer window with the hopes that he could help Arsenal’s attack, but he has been disappointing. They probably won’t make his loan move permanent, so this is another reason why bringing in Hazard is smart.

Unai Emery is already very high on the Belgian international, as he is a player who brings a lot of assets to the table from a scoring and playmaking standpoint. He has a tireless work ethic and is always fighting hard to win balls back in his own half. His dribbling abilities are one of his top talents, just like his brother. Pair that skill with his lightning quick speed and you have one very exciting midfielder who has the versatility to play on either flank, which makes him even more valuable to any club.

His scoring has slowed down, as he netted eight of his 11 goals in the first 12 matches of the season. Despite this, Hazard still has a special eye for goal when he’s in the final third. He can also thread a pass to a teammate like no one’s business, doing this countless times over the last couple years in Germany.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front for Arsenal, Hazard would have two top talents to feed balls, assuming that both of them stay with the Gunners next season.

Arsenal definitely faces some stiff competition for Hazard with the likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, but for the sake of playing time and being able to really help a team, I really think a move to the Emirates would be extremely beneficial for the Monchengladbach star.

According to the Metro UK, Hazard told Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl that he doesn’t want to renew his contract as he would like to move to a bigger club this summer, so it’s inevitable that he will end up somewhere else this in the next transfer window whether it’s still in Germany or England. Spain is a possibility too, with Atletico Madrid previously being linked with the Belgian midfielder.

Hopefully, Arsenal can win the Thorgan Hazard bid as he would be a wonderful addition to their club.
