The Chelsea legend will have a thing or two to offer when he retires at the end of the season…
Not many goalkeepers have had the career that Petr Cech has had. Spending the majority of his days with Chelsea and becoming the established professional he is, he soon moved across the pond to the Emirates Stadium where he now plays with Arsenal. The Czech Republican goalkeeper, mostly known for his career-defining injury which he made his own, will retire come to the end of the season.
According to reports from The Telegraph, Chelsea will be the first club to offer him a behind-the-scenes role. The English outlet reports that Cech could be given a role similar to a technical director. It wouldn’t surprise me if Cech took the role either, since Arsenal are pretty full up behind the scenes, especially with Jens Lehmann acting as goalkeeper coach.

Things didn’t go quite as well at Arsenal as Cech would have liked. However, he did make plenty of memories and won a few trophies during his time in North London. He also learned how to deal with a less-structured defence, so it was definitely building of his undeniable character.
At Chelsea, Cech endured plenty of success. He was known as one of, if not THE best goalkeeper in the world at one point, only using his injury to further him as a man and a player. His story is respected by millions and also encouraged tighter safeguarding when it comes to head injuries in the game. For that, he will be remembered for a very long time after retirement.
However, Cech will wish to continue writing his story in the stadium that made him, Stamford Bridge. With the current state of the club right now, it’s about time Chelsea started to recall their legends to help them out behind the scenes. Not only is Cech an experienced professional, but he knows plenty about the game too. He is a leader on the pitch so this will surely transcend to his work with the backroom staff.
Do you think Petr Cech will act as a good technical director at Chelsea?
