Barcelona will be looking to add full-backs on either sides of the wing during the summer and Lionel Messi has asked them to sign an ideal one for the right.

As the summer transfer window’s opening edges closer, Europe’s superpowers are looking at potential signings. Barcelona are one of those clubs, and despite being on the just four matches away from a treble, there are several loopholes in the team and even the biggest Lionel Messi hater would agree that things would’ve been severely different for them in his absence.

More from FC Barcelona

Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo have been taking rounds with playing at the right full back position, which is by no doubt a weak position in the Barcelona setup. While the Spaniard is versatile and does well at right back, Roberto lacks the defensive mentality. The case is no different with Nelson Semedo who is caught out of position on frequent occasions.

Hence, Lionel Messi has suggested that Barcelona sign a right back, according to the Fox Sports. The Argentina international also came up with a suggestion- Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. Kimmich is a full package as a right wing back and has inherited Philipp Lahm’s qualities at the back very properly in Bavaria.

The Germany international’s defensive skills are highly sought after whereas there is little doubt as to whether he can attack. Joshua Kimmich has been instrumental for Niko Kovac’s side this season, which has definitely been under par but is on track to win the Bundesliga yet again ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

Finding an established replacement for Dani Alves was on Barcelona’s agenda for a long time and Joshua Kimmich could be the perfect locum for the current Paris Saint-Germain defender. However, it is unlikely that Bayern Munich will let him go given his age and their plans to revamp the squad with a lot of fresh crop.
