Tottenham names their extortionate asking price for Real Madrid target
By Kian Long
Daniel Levy is not taking any prisoners with Real Madrid, that’s for sure…
Rumours broke earlier from AS that Christian Eriksen had agreed on personal terms with Real Madrid. At the time, it was unclear what the Tottenham board’s stance was on the situation. However, it comes as no surprise that Daniel Levy is being ridiculous, yet again. This time though, he is actually benefiting Tottenham.
According to English outlet The Mirror, Tottenham will request up to £128m for Eriksen, which is extortionate given the situation. When you consider the first premise that Eriksen wants to leave, then the second that his contract runs out next summer, the fee should be significantly lower. This is why I predict Real Madrid to get the last laugh by signing him for cheaper next January, or even for free next summer.

Eriksen is an exceptional player, there’s no denying that. This is why Daniel Levy is giving his all to keep the midfielder at Tottenham. In many ways, this is worthy of applauds by the North London faithful, however, Real Madrid will not take it well.
Tottenham must think carefully about this situation and they must look at Arsenal’s case study. They would want to avoid an Alexis Sanchez situation, where the player runs down their contract and their performances drop significantly in the process. The last thing Tottenham want to do is to drop to that level after working hard to better their rivals.
Tottenham finds themselves front-runners in the Premier League top four race and still with a chance to qualify for the final of the Champions League. However, they are treading on thin ice with recent performances. They are in terrible form currently, so the last thing they would want is a toxic atmosphere behind the scenes.
That said, whatever is going on with Eriksen should be resolved behind closed doors and if he is not willing to keep a cool head at Tottenham’s decision, then he should either be sold or kept on the bench. Tottenham is a sensible club, so fans can trust them to make the right decision at this stage.
Do you think Christian Eriksen will move to Real Madrid?
