Some astonishing claims have reported that one of Real Madrid’s senior-most players had asked the club to get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer.

Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo went separate ways in the summer of 2018 after the Portuguese forward signed for Juventus. The Whites lost a player who was arguably the greatest in their long and illustrious history, and that is evident given that fact that he scored 450 goals for them in just nine years.

More from Real Madrid

Los Blancos won four UEFA Champions League titles over the last five years and Cristiano Ronaldo played a massive role in all of those victory editions. One of the sides Cristiano antagonized nearly every year across Europe was Juventus- his current side- and nobody will forget his braces against them in the 2018 Quarter Final and the 2017 Final.

However, a stunning report from the Fox Sports has claimed that the Merengues’ forward was asked to be sold by the team’s captain Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid captain believed that Cristiano Ronaldo was surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, and in spite of winning so much internationally, Ramos felt that Ronaldo didn’t influence La Liga much and that was evident after his contribution to only two titles in the last ten years.

Sergio Ramos did believe that Los Blancos would do well even without Ronaldo as they did win before him, but things have not been so green after the former Manchester United winger left- for him, nor for Real Madrid. Los Blancos were kicked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 and were out of the Copa del Rey in the semi-final. They also virtually lost La Liga in March itself.

Three coaches were hired during the course of the season for a first time in goons as well. Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were fired not even six months into their tenures, and Zinedine Zidane returned to the club in March with hopes to steadying the ship. The Frenchman is now leading a squad revamp as Madrid look to conquer fallen heights in the next season.

Do you think Sergio Ramos played a role in Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure?
