Real Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane could be ready to send three of his side’s players in order to land his desired target during the summer.

With Sergio Ramos ageing and there still being uncertainties over the future of Raphael Varane at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane wants to formulate a move for a world-class central defender. The French manager is not content with just the arrival of Eder Militao and wants another player to complement the Porto man.

More from Real Madrid

The Whites are in chase for Ajax Amsterdam property Matthijs de Ligt, but are very likely to lose out on him to bitter rivals Barcelona. However, the club does not want that to happen and will go a level higher in their bid to lure the Netherlands international to the Spain capital, according to Fox Sports.

As per the claim, Zinedine Zidane is ready to offer three players of his Real Madrid setup to Ajax Amsterdam during the summer in exchange of Matthijs de Ligt. The three players in contention to ply their trade at the Amsterdam Arena from next season onward are Jesus Vallejo, Mariano Diaz and Martin Odegaard.

The central defender has been in and out of Real Madrid’s eleven over the last two seasons and has provided little competition to the likes of Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez. That said, injury issues have troubled Vallejo, similar to Mariano’s case. The former Lyon man has also not gotten many chances and they will only reduce in 2019/20 with the arrival of a few Galacticos.

Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard is already on loan in the Netherlands on the books of Vitesse. The Norwegian youngster has been the subject of interest at Amsterdam and with Zinedine Zidane potentially considering him as a surplus to his requirement, Los Merengues could be ready to send the player to Ajax as well.

While the youngster seems to have already made his mind up and may be on his way to Barcelona, Real Madrid are not going to stop probing and hope that their persistence pays off. If Raphael Varane ends up leaving and the Whites can offer a guarantee of regularity next to Sergio Ramos to de Ligt then they may have their man in a wicked twist of tales.

On a scale of 1-5, how likely is Matthijs de Ligt to ditch Barcelona in favour of Real Madrid?
