Zinedine Zidane has signaled that he is ensure whether Real Madrid will sign one of his chief targets during this summer.
Real Madrid have had a torrential season that has been their worst one by a mile in recent years. The Merengues were kicked out of La Liga’s race since a long time while Barcelona managed to easily boot them out of the Copa del Rey in the semi-finals as well. In the Champions League, they were humiliated by Ajax Amsterdam by a 6-3 margin in the round of 16.

Julen Lopetegui lost his job at the helm within five months of signing as the manager and while Santiago Solari did manage to weather the team through initial turbulence, he could not further navigate the Whites and was given the firing in March 2019. Subsequently, Zinedine Zidane was re-appointed within ten months of his asking but not without the Frenchman asking for assurances.
Zinedine Zidane asked for complete authority over entry and exits of players in the summer transfer window in addition to a handsome financial budget. That said, the Frenchman has already drawn a list of players who he believes could flourish in Madrid. The likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen top the list and Zizou seems to be on a mission of getting his targets.
Reportedly, the defending European champions have already reached agreements to sign Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, so they will now turn their attentions to buying Paul Pogba. The Manchester United midfielder has won over Zinedine Zidane, thanks to his performances at the Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and also with the France national team. But he could prove to be expensive.
According to Fox Sports, Zinedine Zidane has now cast doubts over the future of the former Juventus midfielder. About Pogba, Zidane recently said:
"“I said Pogba was a good player I could say the same about other players. I know him, nothing else. Pogba is very good, but plays for Man United. At the end of the season we will see which players come here, and who leaves. But I did not say ‘we are going to bring Pogba’.”"
Paul Pogba’s off-field antics would anyway not have gone down well with Real Madrid’s seniors, but seemingly now, Manchester United are also reluctant in selling him and Zidane has taken note of that. Christian Eriksen was always an upgrade from Paul Pogba, so the Whites prioritising on his signing makes a lot more sense. The Dane will cost them around 120 million euros.
Do you think Real Madrid should sign Paul Pogba at a later stage if Man United are ready to sell him?
