4. Serge Aurier

Aurier is another member of Tottenham’s squad that’s struggled with injury this season. If he managed to stay fit, it’s very likely that he could’ve taken serious match time away from Kieran Trippier. Unfortunately for the Ivory Coast international, he’s been out of action for weeks.

Even when he’s at his best his questionable mental approach to the game causes real issues for Pochettino. Aurier is a terrific athlete, but his propensity to make a bad challenge at the wrong time puts his club at risk.

Perhaps if he was a little better in the final third then Spurs could overlook those deficiencies. As it stands, he does an excellent job of getting the ball into the final third, but he’s nothing more than ordinary once he arrives in those threatening positions.

Like Dier, Aurier isn’t a player that Spurs need to sell this summer. If no one makes an offer north of the £25 million Tottenham paid PSG for his services it’s very likely he’ll stay put. The club could do worse at the right back position.

He’s not going to emerge as a consistent starter though. That means he’ll definitely be available at the right price. It’s probably best for Aurier’s career if he finds a club willing to take a chance on him this summer.
