Alexandre Lacazette was voted Arsenal’s player of the year so it’s not a surprise Barcelona is looming…
Barcelona is on course to reach the Champions League final, while already securing a place in the Copa del Rey final and winning La Liga. Long story short, this season has been fruitful for them, although they have been helped by the shortcomings of Real Madrid admittedly. However, there is still work which needs to be done in the summer window if they are to secure their place again next season.
According to the Sunday Express, Barcelona wishes to sign Arsenal’s French forward Alexandre Lacazette. The 27-year-old has been in terrific form this season and, despite not being Arsenal’s top goalscorer, he was voted as player of the season at the Emirates.

He has scored in many important fixtures this season, including against Liverpool, Napoli, Chelsea and Tottenham. It’s this kind of big game mentality which fires up the players around him and it’s one of the reasons why Arsenal stand within a chance of silverware this season. Barcelona could definitely do with him to add to their riches.
Luis Suarez is ageing, there’s no escaping that. While he still looks phenomenal, it is inevitable his ability will begin to take a dip. He ages at 32 years old, which means he still has another few years, however, Barcelona should still invest. Lacazette is in the peak years of his career and having had time to flourish at Lyon and Arsenal, he is more than ready to take on the Camp Nou.
Arsenal will be reluctant to sell, obviously they will. Under Unai Emery, Lacazette is a monster. His work rate is phenomenal and he benefits by playing alongside the runner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The two of them are a force to be reckoned with, the Arsenal board knows this.
Ernesto Valverde will inevitably be able to get the best out of Lacazette, however, the transfer will come down to the negotiation process. Arsenal has the advantage in this one, and if they manage to secure Champions League football, then there’s no reason for Lacazette to want a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
