Is Mo Salah the worst one season wonder of all-time?

On Sunday, Mo Salah received his second consecutive Golden Boot award in the Premier League for joint top goals, which raises the question, is he the worst ever one season wonder?

Look at the great one season wonders in the Premier League, Andy Johnson, Robinho, and Michu. The three of them are great examples of players who bought into the role of being a one season wonder, and fizzled out like the bubbles in a flat cola.

Many thought that Mo Salah would do the same thing for Liverpool this season after having a record-setting goal tally for the Reds last year. While he had 32 goals and ten assists last season which was a ridiculous total, he has still managed to put in 22 goals and eight assists this campaign.

While there was a drop ever so slightly, Mo Salah has been brilliant for Liverpool this year. Sure he has had a little drop in quality, but that comes with defenses adjusting to the way you play, and focusing on you. Luckily, Liverpool has been less reliant on Salah and has been able to get goals from players you would not normally expect.

Twenty-two goals is no joke for any player, but to do it from the wing? That is something only a very special player like Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo could do. Surely not a Chelsea reject though? Wrong, the Egyptian King can do it as well, and he has hit some pure strikes this season.

His spectacular goals to against Chelsea and Southampton come to mind off the top of my head, while he has scored almost a couple dozen more. The amount of times he has scored to tie or take the lead for Liverpool is outstanding as well, and he is really the fulcrum of that famous front three for Jurgen Klopp.

All in all, Salah has had another fantastic year in the Premier League, and while it was not good enough for another Team of the Year selection, it was good enough to share one-third of the golden boot with teammate Sadio Mane and fellow African international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

I think it is safe to say the Liverpool number eleven has not fizzled out, and has stayed just as sharp. With everything in context, it is safe to say he might be one of the worst one season wonders in the history of not just soccer, but sports in general.
