While Real Madrid are ready to sign most of Zidane’s targets, their president and captain have collectively vetoed the coach’s approach for one of them.

Zinedine Zidane is hoping to strengthen the engine room of his Real Madrid side and with Toni Kroos potentially departing for Manchester City during the summer transfer window, the Frenchman is eyeing the signing of Paul Pogba. The Manchester United midfielder has attracted his eye and Zizou believes that it is the right time for Madrid to pounce given that the Red Devils have missed out on Champions League qualification and Pogba will automatically get a reduced wage.

That being said, Sergio Ramos and Florentino Perez are strongly against the signing of the former Juventus midfielder, as claimed by Diario GOL. While the President has told the manager that he prefers signing Christian Eriksen, he will try to close in on both signings if possible, Sergio Ramos is not a big fan of Paul Pogba’s arrival.

The France international is extremely inconsistent and has an egoistic behaviour which is certain to hamper the atmosphere of any dressing room he steps into. In addition to that, Paul Pogba would demand a huge wage that would possibly eclipse Sergio Ramos’ current earning, thereby creating salary issues among Real Madrid’s senior most players.

Manchester United will reportedly not sell Paul Pogba for less than 150 million euros as in spite of the World Cup winner’s apparent desire in leaving, he still has a contract to fulfil at the Old Trafford and is very much in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for the next season. Therefore, signing Eriksen becomes a lot easier.

The Denmark international’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur expires this summer and he will not be renewing his stay by the look of things. Moreover, he is a disciplined and dignified player who has better statistics than Paul Pogba as well. Lastly, Eriksen is the best option because his price would not exceed 120 million euros in all probability.
