Zaha has been with the club for the majority of his career but has announced he would like to leave this summer in search of Champions League football.

After much speculation, Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha has finally made it clear that he would like to leave the club this summer. According to Daily Mail UK, the Palace winger sat down with Chairman Steve Parish right after the conclusion of the Premier League season and told him that it’s time for him to move on.

Zaha was an important part of Crystal Palace this season, bagging ten goals and five assists in 34 PL appearances. They want 80 million euros for Zaha but given his desire to find a new team, they could lower their asking price if he becomes very adamant about his departure. He has been a very important player to this club over the years and it will be a tough task to replace him. However, if they do get rid of the Ivory Coast International, they will have the opportunity to sign one or two more attacking players to replace the 26-year old.

His main reason for wanting to leave is getting the opportunity to play on Europe’s biggest stage, the Champions League. Zaha has not been able to experience this type of competition while playing for a mid-table side like Crystal Palace.

The Guardian also reported that Palace could even raise their price tag to 100 million euros for their prized possession, which would very likely fend off any buyers at such a high price.

Zaha has wanted to leave the club the last two summers but ended up signing a new deal both times. His current deal pays him 130,000 euros a week and extends through 2023.

Possible fits for Zaha

Zaha spent time on loan with Manchester United in 2013, but had quite a dismal spell with the Red Devils, making just four appearances over the span of two seasons before returning to Crystal Palace. However, he did play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff City in 2014 and did enjoy his time under the Norwegian boss. United ended the season on a horrible spell this year and are in dire need of some firepower out wide and Zaha would bring just that to Old Trafford. It’s looking more and more like both Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku could be on their way out of Manchester, so Zaha could definitely be a fit up front for United. Will they be willing to pay the hefty amount that Palace is asking for Zaha? That’s the real question.

Arsenal is another club who lacks creativity out wide and have shown interest in Zaha. He is a lethal player in the final third, with the ability to score goals and set them up on a relatively consistent basis. Chances are though, Arsenal won’t be interested in spending 80 to 100 million euros for the Ivory Coast star when they can sign previously linked Bournemouth standout Ryan Fraser for a lot cheaper and get close to the same reward from the Scot in the final third.

It will be interesting to see is Wilfried Zaha actually does leave the club this time and fulfill his dream of finding UCL football for the first time in his career.
