There have been initial claims linking Liverpool star winger Mo Salah to Real Madrid this summer, but it probably will not happen.

Get French Football News first reported the Mo Salah story on Twitter with the following Tweet:

While GFFN is a very reliable source when it comes to transfer news and the linking of players, these rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt sometimes. If you take a peek at the other rumors swirling around right now, Real Madrid are also linked to Eden Hazard, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, so why would they be going after Mo Salah?

It is most likely their back-up plan, as the club start to go after another star to rebuild after a tumultuous La Liga and Champions League campaign. The Galacticos have not been able to recover since Cristiano Ronaldo left Madrid, and even with Zinedine Zidane retaking the wheel, it was still a rough end to the season.

With nobody having stepped up to fill in for Ronaldo’s goal scoring threat, they need someone urgently. But why would Mo Salah be that person? Firstly, remember last season when Sergio Ramos purposely injured Salah’s shoulder in the Champions League final forcing him to be sent off?

That alone is reason enough to not want to be a part of the Los Blancos. Also, Liverpool’s number eleven has already made statements about fighting Manchester City for the Premier League title next season, also an odd thing for a player to say that could be on his way out.

Th Egyptian King is also loved on Merseyside and he still getting the same exposure he would as part of a big Spanish side, which is not typical in present times. Recently, he has been on the Time 100 Most Influential People list and well as featuring in Pepsi ads next to Lionel Messi.

So what would a move to Real Madrid bring him besides possibly higher wages? European football? That would not make sense because Liverpool have been to the Champions League final two years in a row, and are showing that they can consistently be one of the best sides in the world.

Moving onto the Liverpool side, it would be very hard to buy Salah off of Jurgen Klopp’s team right now. People saw how hard it was for Barcelona to buy Coutinho off of them, and it will be even harder for Real Madrid to get Mo from a penny-pinching Michael Edwards.

While Real Madrid might see this as a possibility, in reality the move would not make sense for Salah or Liverpool and with no release clause, it will be a hard move for Zidane to pull off.
