There’s a new club on the scene now, and Real Madrid won’t like it…

The transfer saga linking David de Gea to Real Madrid has been ongoing for what feels like decades. All of this could have been dealt with a few seasons ago, had it not been for a faulty Spanish fax machine.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has been convinced for many years that he will one day join Real Madrid, but this could be set to change. According to The Express, Paris Saint-Germain is plotting a plan to bring de Gea to the Parc des Princes for free. His contract runs out properly next summer, so the Parisians want him to see out his contract before signing him on a free deal.

More from Real Madrid

Obviously, this is the least desirable option for Manchester United. They won’t want to lose him, but if he is to go, I’m sure they would rather sell him to Real Madrid in order to get some money in return. Either way, the Spanish capital must be quick to act if they still wish to sign David de Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper is one of the best in the world. He has been coming up with the goods for many seasons now, consistently being voted as the best in the Premier League. However, this season he did show a dip in form, making a few mistakes along the way. Manchester United’s shortcomings this season could easily be blamed, since he did pick up when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took charge.

Real Madrid is undergoing a transition currently. They wish to bounce back in La Liga and the Champions League next season, and they’re in the right position to do so. Zinedine Zidane is at the helm again, after he left just before the World Cup last summer.

After already agreeing terms with Luka Jovic, to let David de Gea go would be a big blow. He will be available for cheap if this news of PSG’s interest is to be believed. I for one am excited to see how Real Madrid go about fixing this blow.

Where do you think David de Gea will head after his Manchester United tenure?
