Real Madrid are close to making a move for Paul Pogba‘s alternative that will cost them absolutely nothing as compared to the World Cup winner.

Real Madrid are gunning to sign one of Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen, but even Zinedine Zidane knows that he will be left with little cash if he spends heavily on the Premier League’s midfielders. The engine room of Real Madrid is still pretty strong, so they can compensate on a player in that role and focus more on signing an attacker who can help with the goal scoring.

Having said that, UEFA Europa League semi-finalist duo Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic is on the verge of signing for the Merengues but Zinedine Zidane is still insistent on signing a midfielder. The Frenchman has now agreed to cut costs in that position and will be okay with the club signing Adrien Rabiot, according to the Fox Sports.

The Paris Saint-Germain has been in a state of isolation with the Ligue 1 giants despite having a contract until the end of this season but he will definitely be leaving during the summer. Adrien Rabiot has not played a match for the French champions in months after being labelled a contract rebel and banished from the first team setup.

Florentino Perez has apparently already taken a flight to Paris over the last week to talk to the 23 year old’s representatives regarding a potential transfer to Real Madrid. The Whites’ biggest advantage in the race to sign the France international is that they can sign him for free and be exempted from the cost that a transfer fee would carry in the cases of Pogba as well as Eriksen.

Adrien Rabiot was also linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months, but the Catalans dropped out of contention for him after closing in on the signing of Ajax Amsterdam starlet Frenkie de Jong for a sum of roughly 75 million euros. Rabiot will now sign for Madrid should they pay him a wage of 10 million euros or so.

Is Adrien Rabiot as good a player to be earning 10 million euros per annually as basic wage?
