Bayern Munich working on deal to sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sané

Bayern Munich have confirmed their interest in signing Leroy Sané, and are set to make a big money bid for the Manchester City winger.
German champions Bayern Munich have reportedly made Leroy Sané their number one transfer target as they look to replace the departing duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Both Kicker and BILD have spoken about Bayern Munich’s interest in signing the Manchester City attacker this week.
And now Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has also confirmed the club’s stance on Sané, telling Sueddeutsche Zeitung, “We are dealing with this player.” While, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has also indicated to BILD that transfers for both Sané and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson Odoi could be possible this summer, but denied that talks have already taken place.
The Bavarian giants have already spent over 100 million euros on next season’s transfers, with French centre backs Lucas Hernández and Benjamin Pavard both joining in the summer. More players are set to arrive as Bayern look to steer clear of rivals Borussia Dortmund, who pushed them to the limit in the Bundesliga this season.
While Hoeness claimed earlier this week that they will not be spending more than 80 million euros on another player this summer, having already splashed out that much money on signing Lucas Hernández from Atletico Madrid. But if a player like Leroy Sané becomes available, they will certainly be tempted to change their mind.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester City would be willing to sell the talented winger. The 23-year-old joined the Premier League champions in 2016, and has been limited to a reduced role this season. Pep Guardiola has been left frustrated with his inconsistency and issues with his attitude. But despite his manager’s concerns, Sané still managed to score 16 goals and provide 18 assists for Manchester City this season.
Sané has a contract extension on the table, but he has so far refused to sign an extension. And with just two years left on his current deal, City could look to sell him this summer in order to fund a move for Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix.
Despite not having the best of seasons personally, Sané certainly has a very bright ahead of him. And the possibility of returning to Germany and replacing Arjen Robben would certainly be tempting for the former Schalke man. So if Bayern can afford to sign him, the transfer could well happen in the summer.
