Chelsea’s asking price of Eden Hazard is too high for Real Madrid

Surprise surprise, Chelsea is after the money again…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few seasons, you will have heard of the Eden Hazard rumours. The Chelsea forward is wanted by Real Madrid, and it’s probably likely that the desire for a move is reciprocated by the player.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Chelsea is demanding a fee of £130m for the Belgian forward. However, this is more than the valuation of £88m which Real Madrid hold of him.

More from Real Madrid

In my opinion, Real Madrid is right to hold the lower valuation. I mean, Eden Hazard only has one year remaining on his contract and he is only going to leave for free if he doesn’t get sold this summer or next January. That said, £88m is still a good price to receive for an out-of-contract player, so Chelsea’s stubbornness does confuse me.

I suppose another factor to consider, though, is that Chelsea will not be able to sign a replacement for Eden Hazard if he does leave. Due to their dodgy dealings, Chelsea is facing a transfer ban which means they can’t bring players in this summer. Although, with that being said, Christian Pulisic has arrived in London and he will begin playing next season.

Chelsea will play in a Europa League final against Arsenal. Having already secured their place in the Champions League for next season, this match is all on the Gunners. However, Maurizio Sarri will hope that this transfer saga doesn’t get to Hazard because he is the man for the big occasion.

Real Madrid has Zinedine Zidane at the helm now, and they are looking to seriously improve from last season. This managerial switch puts them in a good position, and it would be a dream for any football fan (except those of Chelsea and the rest of La Liga) to see Hazard play under Zidane.

What do you think? Do you think Real Madrid should meet Chelsea’s asking price, or should they too play hardball?
