After Jurgen Klopp made it quite clear it would be quiet summer for Liverpool in the transfer market, owner John Henry has made an interesting claim about his own plans for the club.

In a recent interview with Sky, John Henry claimed that even if they win the Champions League they will keep investing money this summer to try and win the Premier League.

This is music to the ears of most Liverpool fans as it means the club will probably go after a couple big money signings. Will it be Matthijs de Ligt or Nabil Fekir? Or will it be a lower profile player like James Maddison or Memphis Depay?

The news will excite everyone around the club, and it also shows how invested Henry is with the club, even after spending most of his time with the Boston Red Sox. Other owners in the Premier League that also have ventures in the United States are notorious for being terrible owners that make little investment into the club. People like Stan Kroenke are despised by the Arsenal fanbase.

It also shows how he and Fenway Sports Group have changed the culture and landscape of Liverpool Football Club for the long-term. Nine years ago when they bought Liverpool, they were a banter club, hanging by a thread after George Gillett and Tom Hicks left them out to dry.

While FSG were a little wary of spending money at first, and the fans went through a little “FSG Out” period, that changed quickly. After the hiring of Jurgen Klopp, he was allowed to dictate the transfers and was given substantial amounts of money to do so.

With signings like Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Gini Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho, Henry has proved his trust in Klopp to get the job done. Liverpool are already a massive club in Europe but it looks like they are ready to take back their place as a true “European Giant”.
