Zinedine Zidane sees the defender as important to Real Madrid…
There’s a new man at the helm for Real Madrid and he’s not taking any prisoners. After a short spell away, Zinedine Zidane is ready to take on the new season, and reaffirm his dominance in La Liga and in Europe. He is set for a busy summer, with many incomings and outgoings expected to take place but if anyone can deal with the stress, it’s Zidane.
There were talks earlier in the week that Sergio Ramos was looking at a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu. However, Zidane is not willing to let that happen. According to a report from ESPN, the French boss personally intervened to prevent Ramos from a move away. This will give Ramos plenty of confidence that he is in Zidane’s plans, if he did not already have that confidence.

Sergio Ramos is the best defender in the world and he has been for some time. He has been at the heart of many of Real Madrid’s successes in recent history, including the three consecutive Champions League titles which Zidane won in his first seasons in charge. That said, it’s good to see that he will continue to be a part of the success.
Ramos is very irritating to play against. He has frustrated some of the best attackers in football, even stopping Mohamed Salah in the last Champions League final.
His style of play is disruptive to the opposition but beneficial for Real Madrid. As he ages, he only becomes more aware and is more able to cut out attacks using his intelligence and tenacity.
Real Madrid needs to improve going forward. They finished third in La Liga and failed to lift any silverware. While this is by no means disastrous, for a club the size of Madrid they should be doing better.
As they look towards the new season, fans should keep an eye on how Zidane uses Ramos, because he will be their most important player without a doubt.
