Once Eden Hazard secured Chelsea’s first trophy of the season, it was time to suggest that he had played his last game for the club.

After his two goals and an assist, the Belgian star was pressed into discussing his future plans and confirmed that it is likely he will be playing in white of Real Madrid come next season.

He said: ‘”I think it’s a goodbye but in football you never know.”

Chelsea fans left with a little bit of hope but his stay at Stamford Bridge is more than likely to be limited to seven years.

The only stumbling block in the way of any summer transfer is the transfer fee, with a rumoured large fee needed by Los Blancos. Florentino Perez will be banking on the fact that Hazard will be entering the last year of his contract, which potentially puts the Belgian star in the driving seat come any negotiations.

According to Madrid’s former president, Ramon Calderon, Chelsea will ‘likely squeeze every penny out’ of the transfer with the club proving tough negotiators for their players in the past.

That seems to have come true according to AS.com, as the club already have rejected an undisclosed bid from Madrid.

Should any further negotiations become a stumbling block then there is potential for another club to come into the mix and make an acceptable bid on the winger.

But who has the resources and the credentials to match Hazard’s demands of a new challenge?

He has already ruled out playing for another Premier League team out of respect for the Blues, so where would his next destination be in Europe?
