Barcelona: Lionel Messi reveals his ideal Antoine Griezmann alternative
By Kian Long
The little magician is calling the shots at Barcelona again…
After a long time apart, it appears there is no love lost between Lionel Messi and Neymar. After the two conquered both Europe and Spain, the Brazilian left for new ventures in Paris. However, it’s been revealed by RMC Sport that Messi wants his old teammate to return to Barcelona and he would prefer the move over a deal for Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann revealed towards the end of May that he would be leaving Atletico Madrid, which would surely open many doors for him. However, he may need to cancel his flights for Catalunya now that Lionel Messi has intervened.

Messi is an authoritative figure in the Barcelona scene, perhaps too powerful for a player. The board is prone to granting his requests, as has been demonstrated in many of the recent transfer windows. Still, he is the best player in the world so it’s only right to play to his strengths for as long as he avoids retirement.
Neymar is seemingly growing unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain, in a turn of events which happened early on in his time there. He is too much of a showman, which means it is difficult for teammates to get on with him. Still, the relationship between him and Kylian Mbappe blossoms.
Neymar is having a rough ride of things lately. CNN reported that the Brazilian was stripped of his international captaincy, following close scrutiny from the mainstream media for rape allegations. His teammates remain in solidarity with him ahead of the Copa America, but this will still be inevitably at the back of his mind.
That said, a change of environment may do him the world of good. Since he is comfortable at Barcelona, having played there for many seasons, it makes sense for him to join. He set out to win the Champions League with PSG and there’s no shame in returning having failed that quest. It was always a tough ask.
Do you think Barcelona should sign Neymar or Antoine Griezmann?
