Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be rewarded by Liverpool

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is soon set to be rewarded by his bosses and manager at Liverpool Football Club in the form of a new contract.

It was reported by Liverpool FC, that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set for a new deal at Anfield which will keep him here for the forseeable future,

Liverpool are close to agreeing a new 12-month contract extension with midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The extension to his current deal, reportedly worth around £120,000 a week, will keep the 25-year-old England international at Anfield until 2023.

This is a great reward for a player that has battled all year just to get on the bench for the final couple of matches of the campaign. The former Arsenal midfielder missed almost an entire year after sustaining a knee injury in the Champions League semifinal against AS Roma last spring.

However, it was clear that Oxlade-Chamberlain would come back at some point to be a crucial member of the squad once again. The 25 year-old scored five goals and bagged seven assists during last year’s Premier League and Champions League. Everyone remembers his crucial goals against Manchester City in both leagues during games at Anfield.

It looks like Jurgen Klopp is really putting his long-term faith in the player by giving him such a long-term contract. AOC adds his name to the long list of Liverpool stars that are locked into the club until 2023, one year after Jurgen Klopp’s contract expires at the club.

Next year, it will almost seem as if Klopp has an extra midfielder to choose from with the Englishman back in the squad. Chamberlain can definitely give him flexibility in formations and will really allow him to keep the midfield three fresh and ready to go.

The player might even be able to manage getting back into the starting lineup for the Reds. Imagine a midfield of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. That is something one can only dream of.
