Twitter reacts as Alex Morgan humiliates Thailand in the World Cup

The Women’s World Cup is gaining a lot of publicity and after last night, it’s not difficult to see why. In this competition, there are a wide array of players that have the ability to excite and perform on the world’s biggest stage. It really is a predicament to how far the women’s soccer game has come in a prolonged period of time.
Last night hosted a real classic between the United States of America and Thailand. The game was full of goals and finished at a resounding 13-0 in favour of the States. However, it comes as no surprise that it was Alex Morgan that stole the show on a record-breaking night.

The Orlando Pride forward scored five goals and provided three assists. Previously, only one player had scored five goals in a single Women’s World Cup match and that was Michelle Akers, also of the USA.
She may have humiliated Thailand, but Morgan was still respectful to the opposition. It was reported by The Indian Express that Morgan comforted Thai player Miranda Nild after the match, only emphasising the union which is held in the game.

This resounding record brought forward the age-old debate of the gender pay gap in football. Morgan and her team definitely put forward a strong case that the gap should be eradicated.
