Denis Suarez hoping to be reunited with Marcelino
Denis Suarez is looking for more playing time and knows he must move away from Barcelona to get that.
This past season has not been one to remember for Denis Suarez. After being told that he would be given a chance by Ernesto Valverde, the former Manchester City academy player found playing time at Barcelona scarce. He decided it was best to accept a loan move to Arsenal in the winter in search for playing time.
However, those plans also failed. He played relatively little with Arsenal and it was in a game against Bate Borisov where things fell apart.

According to The Guardian, in an interview with Cadena Ser, Suarez said, “At the end of the game I thought that I had torn my groin and they did a scan and saw that I had oedema on the bone in my pelvis. I thought I had torn something; I was in a lot of pain.”
From then on, he felt that he was never the same and was unable to give his best to Arsenal.
“And from then on I carried on training with medication and putting up with is as best as I could but I didn’t feel right and Emery didn’t think I was right. I wasn’t comfortable. I don’t think I was even at 50%. After 15 days of being at Arsenal, I wasn’t right. From the 16th I wasn’t even at 50%,” he concluded.
Suffice to say that last season is a season Denis Suarez would rather soon forget.
He has been back at Barcelona for a while now and knows that his future lies away from the Camp Nou. If he had a say he would like to go join Valencia and once again play under Marcelino.
According to Sport, he said, “Marcelino is the best coach I’ve had and I speak quite often with him. It isn’t true that I turned down Valencia. Valencia never showed a real interest in signing me, not like they are now.”
Suarez also revealed that he has had no communication with Barcelona since he’s been back recuperating from his injury.
It comes as no surprise that he would like to be reunited with Marcelino. He played a season under him when they were both at Villarreal. His performance there is what convinced Barcelona in the first place to re-acquire him. With Valencia’s genuine interest in him, it’s an opportunity to play Champions League football and to get his career back on track.
