3. Javi Garcia

Perhaps a bit of a wild card, Javi Gracia is a surprise name to be in the running for Chelsea manager.

The current Watford manager had a relatively successful season as he guided Watford to the final of the FA Cup. Despite losing to Manchester City, it was an impressive feat to get that far and one could argue their “final” was against Wolves who they knocked out in the round prior. In the league, Watford finished 11th, two points behind West Ham for 10th. Again, a respectable showing considering the amount spent by those in front of them.

The Evening Standard reports that because of the job he’s done at Watford, Chelsea is taking a look at him.

They write, “The Spaniard also achieved a record Premier League points total for the club and his ability to work within a transfer structure that includes a technical director has impressed Chelsea. ”

Reading between the lines, Chelsea is looking for a manager who will not mind the fact that Chelsea is likely to be banned from signing new players and someone who does not want full control if appointed.

They could do worse than Javi Gracia who also coached the likes of Malaga before going to England and had success all things considering. While those at Watford believe he’ll stay, he may be the second choice should Chelsea fail to sign Frank Lampard.
