2. Torres scores twice as Liverpool steamroll past Real Madrid

Liverpool enjoyed one of their best Champions League victories when they defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in the 2008/09 edition. They seem to have a knack for scoring four against Spanish opposition, don’t they?

In any respects, it was a masterclass from Liverpool with the Reds obliterating Real Madrid. Had it not been for Iker Casillas, Liverpool could have very easily scored two or three more against them.

Fernando Torres provided two goals on the night and as a childhood Atletico Madrid fan, it must have felt extra special scoring on the city rival. His performance that night re-established that he was one of, if not the best, striker in the world at that time.

The result knocked the Spanish club out in the round of 16. While Liverpool did not go on to win the whole thing, it was still a magic night regardless.
