Paul Pogba‘s days at Manchester United appear to be numbered after he revealed that he is looking for a new challenge. So we take a look at five players Manchester United should consider signing as they look to replace the Frenchman.

Ruben Neves

While Ruben Neves has not been linked with a move to Manchester United, he is exactly the type of player the Red Devils need as they look to bolster their midfield. The Portuguese international is one of the best young players in the Premier League at the moment and has all the attributes to succeed at a club like United.

The Portuguese international has great vision, an incredible passing range, reads the game quite well and likes to dictate the tempo of the game. He has the ability to quickly turn defense into attack and is comfortable playing both as a defensive midfielder, and as a box to box midfielder. Neves is also more than of scoring a spectacular goal from outside the box.

While he shares a number of attributes with Paul Pogba, he also has that defensive discipline and composure, which the Frenchman seems to lack at times.

In terms of playing style, Neves is more Xabi Alonso and Andrea Pirlo than he is Paul Pogba. But that is not necessarily a bad thing, as in Neves, United would get an all action player who can be their midfield conductor for years to come.

Neves is the perfect midfielder player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s counter attacking style of play. He would certainly cost a fortune, but Neves is still only 22 and he will only get better from here.
