Dominik Szoboszlai

This one is certainly a left field option, as one Szoboszlai has not been linked to Manchester United so far. And two, United rarely sign players of his profile anymore. But Szoboszlai is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in world football, and he certainly has all the tools to be the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba.

For those who don’t know him, Dominik Szoboszlai is an 18-year-old midfielder who plays for Austrian giants RB Salzburg. He has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season and has already been linked with some of the top clubs in Europe, including Bayern Munich, Juventus, Ajax and Arsenal.

While he spent the first half of the season with the second team, Szoboszlai still managed to make 20 appearances for RB Salzburg, scoring five goals and providing six assists. His performance against Napoli in the Europa League especially earned rave reviews as Salzburg came close to pulling off an improbable comeback. His performances saw him earn a call-up to the Hungarian national team in March, and he has already made four appearances for them.

Szoboszlai is tall, creative, has quick feet and likes to control the game from the middle of the park, much like Pogba. He also likes to go forward and get involved in the attacking play.

Although it is highly unlikely that United will move for him, Szoboszlai perfectly fits the profile of players the Red Devils should look to sign in what is expected to be another transitional season for them. Szoboszlai is young, has loads of potential and is driven to succeed, and under the right management, he can become one of the best midfielders in the world.
