5 players Inter Milan should sell during the summer transfer window
By John Vaccaro
Mauro Icardi
I never thought the day would come that I thought Inter Milan would be better off without Mauro Icardi. He is one of the world’s most talented strikers and I even picked him to win the Capocannoniere before the start of last. Unfortunately, he is just too much of a distraction for Inter to keep him around anymore.
There is no denying how incredible Icardi has been on the field during his time at Inter. In the 4

seasons before last season’s mess, Icardi managed to score 91 Serie A goals in 137 appearances and won the Capocannoniere twice. Even with this season’s distractions he still managed to score 11 goals in the league and 4 more in the Champions League group stage.
Unfortunately, his incredible talent just won’t be enough to mend a very broken relationship with Inter. However, luckily for Inter, his talent will keep his transfer value high.
Icardi’s transfer will help fund a large portion of Inter’s intended spending for this summer and will give the team a huge push to help make their financials look better. He might not fetch the massive sum he would have at this time last year, but he should still be worth enough to more than pay for his replacement.
Speaking of his replacement, Inter already has one lined up to buy in Romelu Lukaku (even though he is definitely a downgrade) and they have a potential replacement already on the roster in Lautaro Martinez. The one thing Inter shouldn’t do is swap Icardi for Paulo Dybala. They need the money more than they need Dybala and would be doing more good for their rival than it would for them.
When a team wants to make big changes there are unfortunately always going to be casualties. For Inter, Icardi has to be one of those casualties. There aren’t many strikers in the world capable of making the contribution that Icardi can, but his sale should help strengthen the team overall.
