There’s no time to waste for Unai Emery and Arsenal…

Arsenal had a rollercoaster of a season. Following on from their two opening losses to Manchester City and Chelsea, the Gunners failed to lose a single game for many months, including an impressive win streak. This was significant since they also played some big teams during this time, including Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United.

However, towards the end of the season, they showed that they are still the same old Arsenal. Many even began to question Unai Emery’s position at the club after they fell short in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. They did reach the Europa League final but got humiliated at the hands of Chelsea. Now they will remain in the Europa League next season, so what has really improved?

Well, their transfer strategy was looking positive. In the last summer window, they signed four worthwhile names in Sokratis Papastathopoulous, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi. They also signed Stephan Lichtstener, but the less said about him the better.

This should give Arsenal fans hope for this summer. However, with time ticking and contracts being signed elsewhere, Unai Emery and company needs to act fast.

According to BBC Sport, Wilfried Zaha is keen to join Arsenal from Crystal Palace. However, the Gunners do not have the correct funds in order to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. This is a shame, considering Zaha is everything Emery requires.

The Gunners are in dire need of an out-and-out winger since it’s one of the only things they lack. It has shown through players being played out of position, including Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The North London side not having the funds for Wilfried Zaha, despite his desire to join, is indicative of the club’s board in recent seasons. Stan Kroenke is a nightmare owner, one which must leave his position if Arsenal is to progress in the near future.

Next. Stan Kroenke will not give Arsenal money anytime soon. dark

Who do you think Arsenal should sign this summer given their limited resources?
