Medhi Benatia

Medhi Benatia should be a transfer target for AC Milan for the same reason that Tonelli should be. Benatia would instantly challenge Musacchio for his starting spot at Milan or would give them a very strong 3rd option to keep their starters fresh.

After wasting half of one of the few good years he has left of his career in Qatar, Benatia appears ready to return to the highest levels of competition and a return to Italy would be the best way for him to do that. Benatia has spent most of his career in Italy, so he is familiar with the language and style of play in Serie A.

He has plenty of experience in the league, which would be helpful on a squad that seems to get younger every season. He is also still at the top of his game and should have been starting at Juventus last season despite their poor decision to start Leonardo Bonucci match after match.

At Milan, Benatia would be able to get much more regular playing time and could possibly improve what was already a strong defense last season.

Benatia didn’t cost Al-Duhail very much last season and would likely cost Milan even less now. He is exactly the type of player who could help Milan fight their way back into Serie A’s top 4 and they could bring him in without making their FFP situation any worse.

Benatia deserves a chance to play for a squad that would give him the playing time he deserves and Milan would absolutely be able to provide that for this coming season. Juventus and Roma fans might not be thrilled to see him play for another Serie A team, but it seems like the right move for Milan and Benatia.
