Paris Saint-Germain seem to be looking to revamp their midfield. After the whole Rabiot saga that began last season came to a conclusion when the Frenchman left the club for Juventus on a free this week, it was but evident that PSG were preparing for this moment for quite some time now after they announced Ander Herrera.

The French Champions announced the arrival of Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera on a free transfer. The Spanish midfielder had spent the last five years at the Old Trafford impressing the Red Devils fans on various occasions and forming an integral part of their midfield. Herrera was an exceptional part of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield last season only to be outperformed by Paul Pogba, with a successful pass percentage of 87.8% and 1.7 interceptions per game last season.

More from Manchester United

PSG seemed to always be weak in the middle, despite having a strong back line and the venomous attacking trio of Mbappe, Cavani and Neymar. With the arrival of Ander Herrera and compatriot Pablo Sarabia, the team seems to be focused on solidifying their midfield and providing support to the ever-flamboyant Marco Verratti. With Herrera providing a making the transition from defense to attack and his ability to fall back and make crucial interceptions combined with Sarabia’s attacking prowess would give Marco Verratti the freedom in midfield to pass around the ball and build the play. PSG has lost important games when their midfield has performed badly and the team can be really destructive with a strong balanced midfield, something the world of football witnessed when the French Champions beat Barcelona by four goals to nothing in 2016/17.

As per PSG’s official website, the 29 year old Spain International was presented at the Parc des Princes and had the following things to say after his arrival at the French captial :

"“Paris Saint-Germain is the greatest club in France. It keeps on improving and competes to win every possible title. I was looking forward to coming to Paris and to wearing those colors. I hope to continue to make history with the club! Joining this club is an amazing feeling. I also love the city. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. I promise three things: work, professionalism and passion. I also promise to improve my French because I think that the language is very important for the team’s communication.”"
