Italian giants join race for Manchester United forward
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku seems to have fallen down the picking order for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Belgian forward is now seeking a move away from the club. With Inter Milan seeming to be interested in securing the services of the United striker, another superpower of Italian football has reportedly approached the Red Devils for the player.
Romelu Lukaku scored just 12 times in the Premier League last season as opposed to the 26 he had scored two years back. After joining United, Lukaku faced a lot of criticism from the fans following his dip in form and constant mistakes leading to missed opportunities in front of goal. The number of goals he has scored since he switched Everton for United has decreased considerably and he found himself being replaced by Marcus Rashford on many occasions and this has led him to seek pastures new.

Daily Mail had reported the player’s agent making claims of Inter Milan’s interest in signing Lukaku and that the Italian club is doing whatever they can to sign the player. However as per Sky Sports, Serie A champions Juventus have also made an approach for the forward. Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte had tried to sign the striker while he was managing Chelsea but now seem to be a bit behind on fund required to sign the player. A viable option for Conte would be to sell players in order to raise funds. Mauro Icardi could be one of the players that might depart the club and he is another player that Juventus have considered pursuing.
Inter Milan’s desire to bring Lukaku to the club coupled with Juventus’ interest in signing Mauro Icardi can be viewed as a strategy being employed by The Old Lady in order to force Inter in making the sale. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford seems to have become the first choice striker to play upfront and Lukaku would not be wanting to play the role of second fiddle to United’s young superstar. Given the fact that Rashford just signed a new contract that will keep him with the club for the next four years, Lukaku would be more than willing to depart.
It’s just a matter of time before any deal can be agreed between the clubs and one move, either by Juventus or Inter Milan, is for sure going to have a ripple effect.
