When it comes to the amount of drama that surrounds a player amid exit rumors, Neymar tops the list. From FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu announcing that Neymar wants to leave PSG but the club don’t want him to leave to PSG sporting director Leonardo saying that the Brazilian forward can leave the club if they receive the right offer, this saga is taking so many twists and turns that its becoming as interesting as an Alfred Hitchcock thriller where you have no idea what will happen in the end.
Now, this entire saga has taken yet another twist. Sport reports that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has now reactivated his interest to sign Neymar. Madrid have made made many unsuccessful attempts to sign the PSG forward, dating back to 2011, when the player was deemed to sign for Los Blancos but chose to join Barcelona instead in 2014. Madrid even attempted to sign the player whilst he was at Barca, but to no success.

Neymar’s actions suggest that he wants to leave the French capital to head back to Barcelona but Perez is certainly aware of the soured relation between PSG and Barca and would know that PSG would be willing to sell the player to them rather than to the Catalan club. Perez, being the shrewd businessman that he is, will try to take as much advantage of the bitter relation between the two clubs as he can.
Signing Neymar would not only benefit Madrid in a sporting aspect, but the club would have significant advantage on the marketing level too. PSG’s brand image shot up extravagantly after they signed Neymar and it even helped them to partner with Jordan, which made PSG the first football team to partner with the company to produce football jerseys for them. Neymar would provide Madrid with a huge boost in their already supreme brand image.
Mirror reports that Perez would be hoping that the negotiations between PSG and Barcelona will continue right until the end of the transfer window with the two clubs still not reaching an agreement, and given that fact, Perez will get a chance to make an offer for the player. With Neymar pushing for an exit and no agreement between PSG and Barca, Madrid would be in a better position to sign the Brazilian then if they make the right offer. Another important thing to note is that Barcelona will have to include a player in the deal to make space for and land Neymar, but that doesn’t quite seem to be the case with Madrid.
Perez would be willing to offer the same amount of money in wages to Neymar that he currently earns at PSG, something that Barca wont be able to match and then it will depend on Neymar which club he decides to make the switch too.
Perez cannot rely on just these facts and would have to convince Neymar to join Madrid with the player currently desiring a move back to the Camp Nou.
