In the recent seasons the “Champions of Europe” – Liverpool FC and the “Champions of England” –  Manchester City have shown that the strong defensive reinforcements (even if it costed them a fortune) can bring glory to any side.

Considering they buy the right players under the guidance right manager at the same time could benefit the player as well as the club.

Virgil van Dijk is a shining example of this, the Dutch centre back was a regular for Southampton.

Aymeric Laporte costed Man City a little lesser but it has paid off for both the club and the French defender.

By the time of reading The Gunners might have signed William Saliba – an exciting prospect from St Etienne and he is seen as one for the future.

As of now, Arsenal are said to be running with small transfer kitty. The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Harry Maguire from Leicester City won’t come cheap in today’s market.

But here’s a name that could cost them a lot lesser in their chase than the other defenders around the world and could surely fix many defensive issues Arsenal have been facing for so many years.

Lewis Dunk, the 27 year old Brighton Hove and Albion defender has been a rock solid figure and a leader at the back for the Seagulls since their promotion into the top flight in 2017.

Dunk is a very well rounded centre-back and now he is also a Premier League proven campaigner. His experience and calmness in tight situations would surely be an upgrade on Shkodran Mustafi and ageing French man Laurent Koscielny.
