Just after it was reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reignited his interest in bringing Neymar to Real Madrid amid rumors of the Brazilian wanting a move back to Barcelona, this entire transfer saga has been subject to a new twist in the story.

AS now report that Real Madrid have dropped the plans to sign Neymar and have ruled out the transfer all together. The club’s board has reportedly collectively decided against the decision to sign Neymar, viewing his as a ‘risky investment’ . This supposedly marks the end of Real Madrid’s long-term pursuit of the Brazilian superstar. Los Blancos have now reportedly set their sights on Neymar’s teammate Kylian Mbappe.

More from Real Madrid

Real Madrid believe that Neymar’s troibles with behaviour off the pitch and at times on the pitch may pose as a problem to the club over time. Los Blancos on the other hand admire Kylian Mbappe’s clean image, professionalism, his status as a World Cup winner at the age of 20 and his professionalism and feel that he would be the perfect fit for the club rather than Neymar who is now 27 years old. Neymar’s clan seems to be another put off for Madrid, with the club under the impression that they always create unwanted drama around the player. All of this has resulted in Madrid putting Mbappe on top of their shopping list for next summer.

As per AS, Florentino Perez now seems to be going with a ‘one galactico a year’ policy with Eden Hazard fitting that bill for this season, the Los Blancos president is set to launch a bid for Kylian Mbappe a the transfer window for 2020-21 commences. With the French forwards PSG contract expiring in 2022 and the PSG sporting director saying that he can’t guarantee if Mbappe will renew  his contract with the club, Perez has all the reason to believe that he will have an upper hand in convincing the player to make the switch to Madrid.

PSG have reportedly lowered the asking price for Neymar and seem equally keen to let go of the player as much as he seems to be keen to leave them but have however, not received any offers yet for the wantaway PSG star. The reduced price also will not act as a persuading factor for Real Madrid to make a move for Neymar and the player seems likely to be joining Barcelona if things go according to what he and the Catalan club have planned.
