Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has provided clarity on the futures of several of his players following his squad selection for the club’s pre-season trip.

Real Madrid have now reached Montreal where they will be based for just over a week before flying out to Houston for their first International Champions Cup clash against Bayern Munich. The Whites took as many as 29 players with them to Canada, but still a few senior team players are missing after extended duty with their national teams over the summer.

More from Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has taken his new signings Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes to North America, whereas Eder Militao will join up later as he was occupied in the Copa America with the Brazilian national side. From the look of the squad, it looks like five players’ futures have been more or less clarified heading into next season, according to MARCA.

Lucas Vazquez is on the radar of Arsenal, but despite been valued at 40 million euros, all signs point towards him staying. Zinedine Zidane rates the Spain international very highly and thus, he would not let him go. Lucas adds a lot to the attack as well as the back and he has been happy to be a second fiddle for all these years.

James Rodriguez is a Real Madrid player for the time being, but with Atletico Madrid and Napoli hovering over the Colombia international, Zidane has decided to leave him out. His sale of 42 million euros is inevitable. Gareth Bale, who has been shown the door, wants to stay at all costs and has travelled with the squad. Keylor Navas will join up soon.

So far, Marcos Llorente, Mateo Kovacic, Raul de Tomas and Theo Hernandez have all been sold, while Martin Odegaard, Sergio Reguilon as well as Luca Zidane have been loaned out. To have a perfectly sized squad, Zidane will have to sell six more players. Dani Ceballos could leave on loan, as could Jesus Vallejo. Nacho will also be sold if there’s a good offer.
