Real Madrid get a boost in their quest to sell Gareth Bale
By Kian Long
The Welshman could finally leave Real Madrid…
Nobody would have expected that Gareth Bale would last this long in the transfer window at Real Madrid, especially now that Zinedine Zidane is at the helm. However, somehow he has managed to retain his place at the Santiago Bernabeu despite not being in any plans for the new season.
It seems that Bale is taking the cowardly move. He appears happy to remain a Real Madrid player, getting paid all the money in the world, while not actually giving the club anything to be grateful for. It’s getting on the fans’ nerves and I’m sure it’s getting on Zidane’s nerves too.

However, Real Madrid has received a lifeline. According to Marca, Spurs are still very interested in re-signing their former player. So much so, they are willing to spend £54m on him. However, the one thing which puts them off is his wage demands. If they can convince him to accept half of what he gets at Madrid, then this deal should go ahead.
Daniel Levy is not one to compromise. It’s either his way or the highway. If the Welshman does not accept the cut in wages, then he can pretty much guarantee he will not be playing in North London again because Spurs won’t rise to his demands.
Gareth Bale had a fruitful career at Tottenham and his time at White Hart Lane is what elevated him into the player Real Madrid wish he was. He signed for Los Blancos in 2013, but since then, he has certainly remained stagnant as a player.
Many pinned his stalemate on his competition with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, if anything, Ronaldo brought out the best in Bale. Ronaldo is now flourishing at Juventus, whereas Bale is causing problems at Madrid.
Bale has the ability to be an excellent player, Tottenham fans know this. He is quick with the ball at his feet, skilful and has a cannon of a shot in his locker. He just needs a switch in mindset so this can be brought out of him.
A return to Spurs could do Bale the world of good. He would be playing under Mauricio Pochettino, one of the best man managers in the world. Pochettino would put a lot of trust in the Welshman, but in order for the relationship to work, it must be a two-way effort.
Where do you think Gareth Bale will be playing next season?
