The Real Madrid forward is in very impressive form, Arsenal has noticed…
Arsenal is going through a lacklustre transfer window. In fact, it seems like the only thing the Gunners have had to get excited about this summer is their kit unveiling. However, this could soon change and it could be thanks to a certain Real Madrid.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos is ‘close to signing’ for Arsenal. The 22-year-old has been with the club since 2017, playing 35 league matches during his two-year spell.

With Real Madrid pursuing a move for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, this could be seen as them freeing up space. Ceballos is an excellent player with huge potential, however, in the near future, there will not be enough opportunities for game time. Either that or Zinedine Zidane might just not be a big fan of his.
Arsenal recently lost Aaron Ramsey to Juventus. The Welshman was a key figure under Arsene Wenger and he was one of the most consistent players at the Emirates Stadium. However, as demonstrated by Unai Emery’s interest in Dani Ceballos, Ramsey is by no means irreplaceable.
In fact, Ceballos and Ramsey share many similarities. They are both versatile midfielders that like to get forward at every opportunity. While Ceballos doesn’t score many, he has shown that when given the license, he is more than able to get on the scoresheet. This is what Arsenal needs to truly replace Ramsey.
Ceballos has a contract which runs until 2023, as per Transfermarkt. That said, the Gunners may need to pay more than they usually would for the young midfielder. Luckily, Real Madrid officials are reasonable to negotiate with.
Ceballos recently endured a very successful campaign in the European U21 Championships. He was one of Spain’s best players as they went on to win the competition. This was demonstrated when he was featured in the team of the tournament.
These consistently good displays are just what Arsenal needs. They’ve had their fair share of midfield dilemmas in recent season, so now that they are in the period of rebuilding they would welcome Ceballos with open arms if this rumour is to be believed.
Where do you think Dani Ceballos will be playing next season?
